Former WBO world champion Nathan Cleverly (26-1, 12KO) is out of his cruiserweight debut. The 26-year-old was due to make his comeback in Monte Carlo, Monaco on February 1st against Ilunga Makabu (15-1, 14KO) for the WBA Interim title. However, his promoter Frank Warren has told that Cleverly is injured and is unable to fight. This is the second fight in a row that the Welshman has had to miss through injury after a back problem stopped him from facing Australia’s Daniel Ammann for the Commonwealth title in November. Cleverly hasn’t fought since losing his world title in a fourth round stoppage to Russia’s Sergey Kovalev in August.
