WBO world light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly has been thinking outside the box in preparation for his next title defence, sparring up and coming UFC welterweight Che Mills. Cleverly met up with Mills at the Fight Academy Wales in Llantrisant on Friday, sparring six rounds with the 30-year-old from Gloucestershire. He commented, “It’s not the norm but it’s different and although Che may not have the normal boxing style, I might have to face a style like that one day and experiences like this will help me with that.” “Che’s got talent, he’s known for having one of the best stand up games in the UFC and you could tell that when we sparred. He knows his way around the ring and that’s unusual for someone who normally fights under different rules in a cage.” “As well as his skill, Che is really tough – like any UFC fighter will be. Although boxing and MMA are different sports, there are aspects in them that are the same and from what I’ve seen Che has championship qualities.” Cleverly (24-0, 11KO) is next in the ring to defend his title against Ukrainian Vyacheslav Uzelkov (27-2, 16KO) at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena on October 27th. The fight will be televised live and exclusive on BoxNation, (Sky Ch. 437, Virgin Ch. 546). Tickets are on sale now, priced at £40, £50, £75, £100 and £150 and are available from the Motorpoint Arena Box Office on 02920 224488             and
