Cleverly and Braehmer meet face-to-face

Yesterday, Cefn Fforest’s Nathan Cleverly (29-3, 15KO) came face-to-face with Juergen Braehmer (48-2, 35KO) at a press conference in Hamburg, Germany.

It was the first time the pair have seen each other in person for five years and although respectful, early verbal jabs were sent from both light-heavyweights.

Cleverly predicted an away day victory and warned Braehmer, who is eight years older, that the ‘young lion’ will cause an upset and inflict the champion’s first loss since 2008.

One advantage that Braehmer holds over most operators is his highly skilled southpaw stance but it was evident from the stare-down that Cleverly owns a clear size advantage to balance out their attributes.

It is just four weeks until they weigh-in for the WBA Regular world title fight at the Jahnsportforum in Neubrandenburg on Saturday 1 October.

BoxingWales.com will be creating our debut preview podcast for #BraehmerCleverly, including exclusive interviews with some of the fight’s key figures.
