Hearn: Selby won’t have a better chance to win a world title

‘Sugar’ Lee Selby (20-1, 8KO) won’t have a better chance of becoming a world champion, according to his promoter Eddie Hearn. The Barry boy faces Russia’s undefeated IBF champion Evgeny Gradovich (19-0-1, 9KO) tomorrow night and he’ll own home advantage at the O2 Arena in London, as part of Sky Sports Box Office’s blockbuster show. Hearn has guided Selby for the last two years, a run that’s spanned seven fights and taken the featherweight from domestic level to international status. The promoter’s gamble on investing in Selby’s journey in 2013, at a time when the 28-year-old admits he struggled to sell a significant amount of tickets, has been one of Matchroom Sport’s success stories. Elsewhere on the show, Cefn Fforest’s Nathan Cleverly (28-2, 14KO) returns to light-heavyweight as he targets a second world title, while Blackwood’s Craig Evans (14-0, 3KO) and Cardiff-based Nick Blackwell (16-3-1, 6KO) both compete for British titles in the lightweight and middleweight division, respectively. Sky Sports Box Office will show ‘Rule Britannia’ exclusively live this Saturday. Buy now at www.skysports.com/brookgavin
