HUGH-KING, PRYCE-BUTLER SET

BoxingWales.com can exclusively reveal that newly crowned Welsh light-heavyweight champion Justyn Hugh will make the first defence of his title against Mountain Ash’s Nathan King on Sammy Sims’ bumper show on November 3rd in Newport. In July, Newport’s Hugh (11-0-1, 4KO) wrestled the title from Jeff Evans in Fight of the Year contender, coming from behind to stop the champion in a fight that will live long in the memory of Welsh fight fans. Despite King’s negative record (12-17, 1KO), the durable 31 year old has almost always only lost to quality fighters and despite a two year absence, he has enough experience to ask questions of Hugh. Promoter Sammy Sims has revealed that he’s trying to arrange a rematch between Welsh banger Bradley Pryce and  Bristol’s Danny Butler as the chief support on November 3rd. The pair first met in October 2011 with Pryce scoring a last round knockdown to edge the competitive scrap on points. Since that Pryce has picked up a win against the strong Patrick Mendy and lost to Commonwealth middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders on points. Butler’s only outing since the fight was an 8th round knockout victory over Frankie Borg in July. Sims also revealed that he’s received an offer from London promoter Frank Maloaney for Aberdare’s heavyweight Dorian Darch (5-0, 1KO) to face the promising Dillian Whyte (7-0, 4KO). The Brixton heavyweight is the only Brit to hold a win over Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua.
