Kristian Touze sees off late replacement Adam Bannister
Last night, Swansea’s skilful southpaw Kristian Touze (2-0) witnessed the unpredictable realities of the small hall scene by receiving a stern test from a late replacement
Ultimately, Touze was too cute to be seriously troubled by debuting lightweight Adam Bannister (0-1); coming out on the right side of referee Martin Williams’ clear 40-37 scorecard at the Rhydycar Leisure Centre in Merthyr Tydfil.
Still, Bannister made Touze call on his ring smarts to be sure of the four round win and the unbeaten 27-year-old will benefit from facing a examination this early in his nine-month career.
The difference between the lightweights on the undercard of Sanigar Events’ ‘Crunch Time’ show was Touze’s cleaner work, which enabled him to catch Bannister with the jab as he launched repeated waves of blatant attacks.
In an inspiring and rare act of generosity, Touze is donating his purse to a children’s charity. Boxers on the small hall scene don’t earn fortunes and his kindhearted decision is something that should be applauded.
