Nathan Cleverly weighs-in career heaviest for ‘Collision Course’

Cefn Fforest’s Nathan Cleverly (27-1, 14KO) has weighed in his career heaviest at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool, ahead of his WBA Inter-Continental cruiserweight title defence. The Welshman weighed 14st 2lbs 11oz, while his Argentinian opponent, Alejandro Emilio Valori (15-4, 11KO) came in at 13st 13lbs 10oz. There isn’t a lot to report as both Cleverly and Valori remained calm, showed sportsmanship and faced off for the cameras, with a few words exchanged, in an uneventful encounter. Scroll down to watch the weigh-in. The pair will next see each other tomorrow night, in the ring at Liverpool’s Echo Arena. Sky Sports coverage is due to start at 7:00pm and Cleverly’s ring walk is expected to be around 9:00pm. It’s Cleverly’s second fight at the weight, having moved up from light-heavyweight in May. Last August, Cleverly suffered his first defeat, losing his WBO world title but he returned in May to stop Sean Corbin in two rounds. Cleverly and Valori were both relaxed and the 27-year-old received a respectful applause. The last time Cleverly fought in the city was three years ago when he defeated hometown hero Tony Bellew. The arch rivals co-headline Matchroom Sport’s ‘Collision Course’ show and they’re being lined up to rematch later this year. Looking less defined than Cleverly, the hard hitting Scouser (14st 2lbs 13oz) also weighed in for his fight with Brazilian banger Julio Cesar Dos Santos (14st 1lb 9oz). Tickets for ‘Collision Course’ are available from and priced at £30, £40, £60 and £100. VIP tickets are priced at £150 and available from Matchroom Sport on 01277359900.
