Results round-up: Lee, Sinden, Buckland and Davies

Swansea’s Mano Lee (1-0) made a successful start to his professional career on Friday, out-pointing Hull’s Paul O’Brien (0-6). The welterweight, who is managed by Frank Warren’s nephew Alfie, won the contest courtesy of a 40-36 scorecard at Rockingham Forest Hotel in Northamptonshire. Welshpool’s Warren Sinden (3-0-1) was due to end 13 months of inactivity on the same day but saw his fight in Walsall cancelled at the last minute. To satisfy British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) regulations, a medical query required further examination by a doctor but it couldn’t be completed in time. The 25-year-old has now re-scheduled to fight in Wolverhampton on 6 June under the new management of Birmingham’s Jon Pegg. On 17 April, Cardiff’s Mitchell Buckland (8-0, 1KO) returned to the ring after 11 months on the sidelines and extended his unbeaten run to eight out of eight. The Celtic lightweight champion, who trains at St Joseph’s Boxing Club in Newport, won every one of the six rounds against the taller Victor Edagha (0-2). The bout was scored 60-54 to the Welshman. On the same show in Bournemouth, Pontyberem’s Zack Davies (2-0) recorded his second victory in two months. The light-welterweight, who is trained and managed by Gary Lockett, nearly stopped Portsmouth’s Louis O’Mara (3-9) but had to settle for a four round points victory, via a 40-36 margin.
