RUMOUR ROUNDUP: BUCKLAND ON HATTON COMEBACK SHOW, WITTER-GAVIN ON CLEV CARD

BoxingWales.com understand that Gary Buckland’s second defence of his British super-featherweight title against Manchester’s Stephen Foster Jnr is set to be confirmed to be on the undercard of Ricky Hatton’s comeback. British legend Hatton makes his return to the ring after a three year absence on November 24th at his old stomping ground, the Manchester Arena (formerly M.E.N Arena). Buckland previously fought at the same arena when he defeated the tough Oscar Chacin on points over eight rounds on the Amir Khan v Paul McCloskey undercard in April 2011. The Buckland (26-2, 8KO) v Foster Jnr (30-3-1, 18KO) fight was originally meant to be in October in Bolton, Lancashire but it was later moved to the Magna Centre in Rotherham but a source revealed that plans for that show are in doubt following injuries to local undercard boxers. The winner of Buckland v Foster Jnr are expected to be made mandatory challenger to face recently crowned European champion Devis Boschiero. WITTER V GAVIN IN CARDIFF? BoxingWales has learned that Cardiff is a possible venue for the up-coming British welterweight title showdown between veteran champion Junior Witter (41-5-2, 22KO) and Britain’s only ever World Amateur Championships champion Frankie Gavin (13-0, 10KO). Last week the British Boxing Board of Control’s monthly notice said that Frank Warren Promotions won the purse bids to stage the contest and it could be on October 27th at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on the undercard to Nathan Cleverly’s defence of his WBO world light-heavyweight title defence against Vyacheslav Uzelkov.
