Selby and Gradovich complete last obligation

As he bids to achieve a lifetime dream as Wales’ 12th world champion, there is only one hurdle left for ‘Sugar’ Lee Selby (20-1, 8KO) and that’s Russia’s reigning title-holder Evgeny Gradovich (19-0-1, 9KO). This morning, the pair completed their final pre-fight obligation with a second weigh-in at 8am. The IBF, who are sanctioning body of tonight’s world title fight, require boxers to weigh-in on the day of the contest and they must not have gained more than 10lbs above the featherweight championship limit of 126lbs. Both boxers made full use of the 10lbs allowance and since yesterday’s initial weigh-in where Selby was 125lbs, the Welshman has gained just over 10lbs and tipped the scales at 135.2lbs this morning. Gradovich, who was exactly 126lbs yesterday, again weighed towards the top of the allowance at 135lbs. There was no repeat of yesterday’s arguments when security separated Chris Sanigar, Selby’s manager, and members of Gradovich’s team after a heated exchange. BoxingWales.com understand that Gradovich’s team claimed Selby would run away from the champion and Sanigar took exception to the comments.
