Unfinished Business fighters weigh-in at the Newport Centre

Cardiff’s Craig ‘The Kid’ Kennedy (10-0, 5KO) came face-to-face with Wadi ‘Machoman’ Camacho (12-4, 8KO) for the first time since their alleged ‘bitegate’ incident. The cruiserweights weighed-in for their eight round contest, which will headline Sanigar Events’ ‘Unfinished Business’ show tomorrow night at a near sell-out Newport Centre. Kennedy came in at a solid 14st 4oz and Camacho weighed 14st 4lbs 8oz, lighter than in their first meeting. The pair shared an intense two minute stare-off and an argument quickly commenced, fuelled by the controversy of their first fight in October which saw Camacho disqualified by referee Martin Williams in the second round for allegedly biting Kennedy’s shoulder. In the show’s other rematch, Cardiff’s Frankie Borg (9-3, 3KO) and Swansea’s Chris ‘Mutley’ Ware (5-1, 2KO) both weighed-in under the middleweight limit for their Welsh Area title fight. Borg, the defending champion, weighed 11st 5lbs 8oz and Ware, the challenger, weighed 11st 5lbs 5oz – both under the 11st 6lbs limit. This will be the third time that Borg and Ware have fought. In 2009, Ware beat Borg in the semi-finals of the Welsh Senior Championships and he repeated the feat in December, dropping Borg twice and winning their four round non-title fight on points. In the show’s co-headliner, Newport’s Welsh Area champion Jerome ‘The Comeback Kid’ Samuels (5-5, 1KO) and Ferndale’s former title holder Barrie Jones (20-10, 7KO) completed their formalities without incident. Both boxers were under the light-middleweight limit; Samuels weighing 10st 13lbs 3oz and Jones at 10st 13lbs 6oz. Referee Reece Carter will officiate the Kennedy-Camacho rematch and both Welsh Area title fights. The rest of the show will be refereed by Martin Williams. Doors at the Newport Centre will open at 5:30pm and boxing is due to start at 6:30pm. Sanigar Events are expecting a near sell-out but a limited amount of tickets will be available to purchase on the door. Coverage on British Eurosport (Sky Ch. 412) begins at 8:00pm and is set to feature five fights.
