Welsh fans given chance to meet Floyd Mayweather in Cardiff

Welsh boxing fans will receive the opportunity of a lifetime when the legendary Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jnr (49-0, 26KO) visits Cardiff.

Recognised as the number one boxer in the world across all weight categories, Mayweather will meet members of the public when he makes an appearance at the St David’s Hall on Monday 1 February.

Mayweather, who defeated arch-rival Manny Pacquiao in boxing’s most high profile event ever eight months ago, is visiting Britain as part of an eight show ‘European victory tour’. The 38-year-old’s most recent outing in September saw him dominate ex-belt holder Andre Berto in his hometown of Las Vegas and call time on a 19-year career, entering retirement having equaled Rocky Marciano’s 49-fight unbeaten record.

The evening will consist of a meet-and-greet photo opportunity for fans in a private room and an auction with the opportunity to bid on authenticated signed memorabilia. Sky Sports presenter Johnny Nelson, who owned the WBO world cruiserweight title before Swansea’s Enzo Maccarinelli reigned from 2006-2008, will then host a question-and-answer session with Mayweather to conclude the evening.

As well as his exploits in the ring, Mayweather has also revolutionized the business of boxing and is proud to have earned more money than any other athlete. Often topping Forbes magazine’s annual list of highest earning sports stars, the Olympic bronze medalist is thought to have been paid over $700m in his career.

Tickets for the event are priced at £55, £65, £75, £85, £100 and £200. They can be purchase from the venues directly and the limited number meet & greet from www.selectaspeaker.co.uk.
