

Welsh Elite Championships Prelims – Day One
The prelims of the Welsh Elite Championships got underway at the Gilfach Goch Leisure Centre this afternoon, with 11 fights entertaining a crowd that included former WBO world cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli. The most impressive performances of the afternoon came from Barry’s light-welterweight Alan Lamb, Gwent’s welterweight Sonny Lee and Port Talbot’s light-heavyweight Aaron Bird as the trio secured one sided stoppage victories to progress to the quarter-finals. The fight of the session came in the light-heavyweight division as Tylorstown’s Laurie Davies recovered from a monstrous first round knockdown, courtesy of a southpaw right hook from Splott’s sharp Pierre Lima, to battle back and win a Split Decision.
